I love this time of year. Full of hope and promise. The smell of blossom flowers, cut grass and G&T’s!
Theres no better time to get out with your camera and create a few works of art.
Just last week I spent the morning at The Wisley with Pedro Sanchez, Head Gardener.
Pedro has been working hard landscaping the gardens at The Wisley Club, ensuring the Members are treated by a fury of colour, wonderful scents and varieties that are so unique and distinctive it really makes you feel like you are somewhere special.
Pedro has been with the Wisley for well over 6 years, his career at the club has seen him promoted from Assistant Gardener, to Senior Gardener and now to Head Gardener..clearly doing something right.
I like Pedro a lot, not because he is a handsome Spaniard (that helps!) but because I was with him to capture his wedding at Epsom Race Course the day he married his gorgeous wife Lorraine. They are a sweet couple and have two stunning kids, I’m so glad to see him doing so well at The Wisley.
Pedro is proud of his work and takes it very seriously, constantly learning, The Wisley provide him with the tools he needs not only to do a good job for them but also to develop his skills and expertise within his role and for his future career.
Pedro informs me most of the plants that you see in the post are available at good garden centres, The Wisley often purchase their bulbs and plants from Chobham Nurseries and Dingly Dell.
Over the coming weeks and months Pedro will be working on all the borders and planting the beds so they stay a riot of beautiful colour, investigating new varieties and planning the colours for the coming seasons.
Apparently, the tulip beds surrounding the stunning Wisley terrace are modelled on the colours of his beloved countries football team..but we won’t tell the CEO Wayne Sheffield that I don’t think he has noticed! They certainly look impressive regardless of your allegiance in football!
Unfortunately, for most, you won’t be able to wonder the gardens of The Wisley as it is a Private Members club but it neighbours with RHS Wisley and this is definitely a venue worth visiting for a small fee.
Please enjoy the images..if you would like copies of any of the images you see, whether as a large print, art piece or collection of postcards do leave your details in the comments..
