Today was tough. Who am I looking for. I just don’t know until I see them. I’m not talking extremes just a connection, something that makes me want to find out more.
I’m queuing for coffee, I had time today so had been driving about for a couple of hours looking for someone to approach.
There’s nothing stand out different to Amy..it was her presence. Strong, confident. A woman in control and clearly a woman loving life and carrying the positive gene. I like her already..she is wearing a t-shirt that says ‘Believe in Yourself’. Make-up free, straight from the gym and an aura that screams..’Sorry. Not sorry’.
I buy her a coffee and we sit and chat like we have known each other for a long time.
Day 3: Amy
Occupation: Medical Sales – Working with Oncology
Amy is smiling, she cannot help herself, to not smile is against her makeup. I’m left energised the whole day by her happiness. We talk a lot about her life..more than my general questions..can I break my own rules and just find out everything?
- Where were you born & raised?
Pennslyvannia, just outside New York. Amy lived in a really rural area, she grew up on a farm. 5 miles to the next residence or any other human life. Her childhood was void of outside influence. It was creative she says and by all accounts sounds idyllic. Big family gatherings, feral children..imagination required, the simple life.
During her University (College) years Amy came to Florida to work at Disney in their college programme. I was a little over enthusiastic at the idea that she was Pooh Bear, Quasimodo, Chip & Dale, Little White Rabbit and Timon..to name a few. I’m starstruck. She loved it here, loved the climate and made it her home.
2. Tell me a childhood memory.
Her childhood memory was fantastic. As an english girl I can only imagine. ‘One of the childhood memories that comes to mind, It was nothing for my brother and I, who was four years older than I to take the snow mobiles, on our own and go like, to our Aunt and Uncles house at night. He was 12 so I would have been about 8 years old.’
3. What is your favourite season and why?
‘For me I probably prefer the fall season there is a couple of reasons why actually, I love the fashion! And fall is associated with the most holidays. We’ve got everything, we celebrate during the Fall. Starting with Labor Day, to Halloween to Thanksgiving and we roll straight into Christmas and of course my daughters birthday is right in the middle of that. To me the fall is like a time of celebration, its just kind of people seem to be a little more festive, people seem to be a little more happy and jolly around that time of year.
4. Tell me about someone you love.
Gosh it’s so hard because I have my new husband and I have my two kids.
My husband and I just got married in November 2015 we have actually been dating for four years. We were cycling with a bunch of friends and the morning that we were all meeting a bunch of us were waiting for everyone to arrive and he came round in his car too fast and almost hit me! That was the start of us meeting. After we spent the day cycling we went out on a date and we were like, I don’t like you and I don’t like you, we kinda like hit heads. We went out again (surprisingly!) It was kind of interesting because it was like you almost meet your match sometimes.’
Amy and her husband realised they had so much in common. Clearly free spirits, they both love to travel, enjoy fitness and the outdoors.
‘He is a very attentive guy, a manly man, he’s strong and a mountaineer. Normally, when you meet this kind of guy they are in their own world but he is very attentive and loving guy.’
Clearly Amy has met her Mr Wonderful.
5. What words of wisdom do you have for the readers.
Amy was very decisive on this point and no thought was required.
‘Don’t put off till tomorrow, what you can do today and then also be present in the moment and don’t worry about what is to come.’
6. Dreams for the future.
‘Oh my gosh yes, I am a forever kind of dreamer type of person so I envision stuff, I’m not a detail person so my vision for the future is that at some point I am gonna have my own company or I’m gonna patent something and do something completely different. I love what I do today but I don’t think this is my calling and then probably for fun on the side what I hope to do at some point is get more into music. I play piano, I sing and I am learning the guitar right now.
I believe her..she was positive, had the right attitude. I hope we meet again as she was so easy to like with so much energy. The world needs more Amy’s.
