Today was short and sweet.
I met this beautiful young lady and her adorable pooch ‘Watson’ in the dog park. For the UK audience not in the know, these are little parks, with all sorts of lovely doggy apparel, specifically for walking your dog and letting them run free.
So, I saw Alexa arrive in the park 2 minutes ahead of me. Her lovely doggy could have been related to mine, it was a match made in heaven.
Since I started this project what is most amazing to me is how receptive everyone has been to the idea..I have had one ‘no thanks’ and thats it..19 days in. The general public here are happy to chat, less wary, more open and honest and like talking to ME! I know, shocking isn’t it..crazy Americans! (love it here!!)

1.Where were you born and raised.
‘Orlando, Florida. With my two younger brothers who are still in school and my Mom & Dad.’
2.Tell me a childhood memory.
‘Because I am from Orlando we went to a lot of the Disney parks from school. I particularly remember in Middle school going to Epcot, no real reason why, just being with friends, hanging out at Disney.’
3.What is your favourite season & why
‘Fall, because thats when the weather starts cooling down from Summer, its my birthday and its Halloween. Everyone likes holidays here, any reason to celebrate. St Paddys Day, Valentines Day, Doughnut day….we celebrate.’
4.Tell me about someone you love
‘Well my Fiance, James, thats pretty easy. He is from the DC area. But we met here, we worked together at the time, we’ve been dating for four years now. He is from a Military Family and they are all over the country. We both have an interest in the theme parks and he also works in the hotel industry. We both work long hours and at the moment are working on getting fit for our wedding.’
‘He proposed at the beach.’
‘We went to dinner and we were walking on the beach at he proposed.’
5.What words of wisdom do you have for the reader about life?
‘Always keep an open door, don’t say no to a possibility. Whether at school, or a job or an opportunity without herring more details. Just be open about anything.’
6.Dreams for the future?
‘To have a family, to have a house..and from there its open.’
Alexa was a sweet young woman. All about her upcoming wedding. Its a funny thing when you have a wedding coming up, its all encompassing and you can’t see past it or before it..I remember it well and have seen it in so many brides.
I felt a little envious, at the time its quite stressful and when its all over you miss it. All that organising, stressing over the tiniest thing, the colour of napkins the groomsmen’s ties..should Aunty Mary sit next to Cousin Lou? On the day, its all forgotten and you just have a great time, all those huge worries become tiny details. What you are left with is an amazing day full of memories and a lifetime in front of you, it all starts here.
