Some of the ladies at the ‘Fabulous’ shoot had already subjected themselves to my lenses and others, although we had spoken online before, had yet to meet.

I have been asked if I get nervous photographing my peers, especially photographers but the answer really is no.  Once we are in front of the camera most of us have the usual worries and hang ups, we go from smiling and laughing to a terrified falsified pose!  I am talking from my own experience of course.

If I have a skill that could be bottled I think its that I put people at ease..probably because I talk so much!  But also because I know how we want to be seen, I know what we don’t like about ourselves and I know how to get the images women want.  There’s nothing I like more than showing an image straight off the back of camera and the reaction being ‘wow, is that me!”.

Clare said she doesn’t enjoy being in front of the camera but you’d never know.  She is a sweet package of lovely, the camera loves her face & her hair loves a wind machine!

Photographing Clare was very enjoyable, a professional make-up artist, she is fun, bubbly, attractive and great at what she does.

Winner – FHA Make Up Artist of the Year

1. In one sentence, tell us who you are and what do you do?

I am Clare Pinkney, a professional make-up artist

2. Whats the favourite thing about your job

I love the variety of my work, working with brides, giving make-up lessons, fashion, beauty and TV work

I really like to make people feel confident about themselves especially after they say “wow” after looking

in the mirror. It’s a feel good career!

3. Who do you admire the most in your work? and why?

I have always admired the make-up artist Mary Greenwall who is famous for making women look beautiful. For different

reasons and more recently it has to be Lan Nguyen-Grealis, a true artist, a painter of faces from natural

beauty to the creative Avant Garde.

4. How did it feel to be photographed?

I am always behind the camera so I personally do not enjoy having my photos taken. However Carey put me at ease

and made me feel comfortable. I grew to love that wind machine in a short space of time!

5. Did it improve your confidence?

I would certainly recommend having a photo session with Carey, certainly a confidence booster and she is lovely.

6. Would you recommend it to anybody else?

Absolutely. I was lucky enough to hang backstage and was watching how Carey’s magic touch with working with people from all walks of life was affecting everyone in a positive way

7. Name one thing you love about yourself

Hard question, probably my cheekbones or my lips.

8. Whats the best piece of advice you have ever been given and by whom?

Best advice is of course from one of my best friends, my mother “always look after your skin, cleanse and moisturise, avoid

the sun” So true too!

Thank you Clare!
