Paula Rooney Weddings & Events at La Perla! #valentines

My lovely friend, favourite florist & later this year one of my Brides is as we speak knee deep in gorgeous Red Roses. Of course we all know by now its Valentines Day.  A very busy day for all the flower fairies and having been there myself a few years ago I know just how crazy it is.  I’ll never forget standing in my shop ‘Oops A Daisy’ in Cookham and being surrounded by 1500 stems of Roses in a rainbow of colours and feeling exhausted but also loving it! Paula Rooney Weddings & Events was invited this year by the Luxury Lingerie Specialist La Perla to have a ‘pop up’ shop in their Sloane Street & Bond Street stores.  A perfect relationship for these two luxury specialists. Paula’s display looked fabulous and very at home in amongst the silks, lace and finery. The girls at La Perla were lovely, they looked fabulous in the black dress and red lipstick.  It was a busy day whilst I was there, so many ladies coming in to buy themselves lingerie, I was quite surprised..clearly I am not treating myself enough.   There was a particular range of Lingerie that was a bit special.  The Maid to Measure range with its 18 carat gold thread and 18 carat gold fixtures and fastenings, quite incredible, if not a bit extravagant!  But in the area of Knightsbridge I am sure that the clientele here would not be put off or even consider the cost. I loved the portfolio La Perla had created to show the design and detail that goes into their ‘Made to Measure‘...

Albany – Bahamas Destination Resort Photographer

Happy New Year to you! I cannot believe we are now in 2014!  That means this year I have been married for 13 years, my youngest child will be 10 & my oldest 20 (eek)..I’ve been taking pictures professionally for 6 years and I have just entered a whole new decade..thats right my 30’s 😛 Well as you know the 1st day of the year was a bit of a wash out for most of us in the UK, not only were most of us sporting particularly major headaches but outside of doors the weather was doing its best to drown ducks. This turn of events whilst lounging on my sofa reminded me that in only a few short weeks we will be off on my first overseas assignment of the year!  Sunshine guaranteed. This isn’t our 1st trip to this incredible resort.  Back in October last year we had the wonderful opportunity to stay in Albany in Nassau, Bahamas.  Whilst there I photographed the surroundings, some of the properties, a family who have recently bought a holiday home there and lots more of the wonderful elements that make this the most stunning of venues. The staff here are wonderfully happy, always greet you with a great big Bahamian smile and remember your name from the moment you arrive.  The kids club ‘Conch House’ completely ruined my kids for any future trips we may take elsewhere.  The standard was set very high from now on! With an adult pool surrounded by private cabanas leading down to the private beach, a family pool with ‘bed’ service its own restaurant called...
Bridal Event at No.10

Bridal Event at No.10

I was asked to attend a lovely evening at No.10 Bridal Boutique this past Thursday to talk to brides and capture some of the goings on at this Designer Gown Event. I met some lovely brides and caught up with some equally lovely suppliers. I was most happy to see Sarah from Creative Candi again with her stunning sweetie jars that hold a whole host of beautiful and delicious temptation! The very talented Heather Cole from Evelyn Cole Flowers was also there and she created a stunning display..her show cards produced by Glasshouse Wedding Stationery Co…were also a delight, each one holding a few darling little seeds, what a great idea! I was also introduced for the first time to Jo Turner wither her delicious cakes..I swiped a fruit cake sample and took a couple of red velvet cup cakes home for the kiddies and as my daughter exclaimed they looked too prety to eat, although she did manage it. We met some lovely brides and helped them choose their dresses, I had a great time doing this and there were a few happy tears! Thanks ladies for asking me to be there, most enjoyable and it looked very much like the evening was a great...
Goldy

Goldy

Last week I had the pleasure of two things, one photographing Georgina, known to her family & friends as Goldy and two teaching a fellow photographer the art of photographing women. Georgina is a friend and neighbour and surprised me when she agreed to model for us for this session. My surprise was not because Georgina isn’t lovely and wonderful to photograph but she is quite shy when it comes to having a picture taken. Well, she agreed and was fabulous. She posed easily and enjoyed all the banter, she made it easy for the student and their rapport was great. Just for a change I didn’t get to take too many images and spent my time holding the reflector and hair dryer..but I wasn’t going to miss out on a few shots of a good friend. Thanks to Joyce & Hayley from Brides & Beauty for the wonderful hair & make-up Photographing women is an art, the art is in the relationship. It is not how you shoot technically but how you connect with your client..if you’d like to experience a one-one session with hands on teaching and a live model please contact me for information. She All I Am Is...
Photographers She Shoot Party

Photographers She Shoot Party

Every now and then I come up with a crazy plan, something difficult, time consuming and hard to organise but the end results are always stunning and worth the pain. One weekend at the end of Jan I volunteered to photograph not one or two but 20 female photographs in a ‘She’ shoot party to rival all others! They all had a glam make over from the wonderful team of Brides & Beauty then a 30 minute shoot with me (more like an hour each!) There was noise, chaos, jewellery, clothes, and giggly, girly nonsense in my house all weekend..my husband and kids de-camped for most of it. But here are some of the results and I think you will agree they are pretty...
Alice in Wonderland With a Twist & Spot of Glitter!

Alice in Wonderland With a Twist & Spot of Glitter!

Last night was very interesting..I can’t say I haven’t seen burlesque before but I think it may have been a first for my husband! We went along to watch Alice in Wonderland…Glitter Box Burlesque Stylie. The show was at the Windsor Arts centre, organised by Charlotte – AKA Glamour L’Amour. My involvement with this curious affair? Charlotte is also a model and we have worked together on previous shoots..for Girl in The Green Scarf online fashion store & Madeline Isaac James, Bridal. Charlotte needed to borrow some images if mine for her ‘stage’ and I offered to go shoot her show. The decor also featured some wonderful tissue Pom Poms created by the very talented Susie of Tissue Blossoms It was an interesting show, very vibrant, colourful, entertaining, there were great vocal talents and incredible, albeit cheeky dance moves going on! Photographically it was a challenge as the place was packed with no room to move with a very interesting audience, the age range and voyeurs would surprise you..not a room packed with men but groups of women, the older generation in couples were clearly enjoying the event and their whoops and cheers let us all know it. Not sure if my husband would come with me again..secretly he undoubtedly enjoyed it but me being with him left him a little embarrassed. I see no need to be, a harmless, talented bit of artistic display never hurt anyone. I will say though this show certainly put a new spin on the old fairytale for...
