#Tanked Wedding In a Tank @ICETANK

It was one of those days.  You know the ones were you have so much to do and another fives hours in the day wouldn’t go amiss. I’d very kindly been invited by Jane from Planned for Perfection along to this wedding industry showcase and didn’t wanna miss it.  I’d seen IceTank studios in Convent Garden in images often and was really keen to take a look, plus there was going to be a whole host of other industry peeps so always good to catch up. So despite having a portrait shoot that morning in Berkshire and needing to be back in Surrey by 3pm I readily agreed to go and went and got my jet engines out!! Icetank studios are tucked away in a side street in Convent Garden, Londons West End, a perfect location. A large picture window gives huge opportunity for dressing, display or pure voyeurism!  I thought up lots of ideas whilst there I was also reliably informed that shutters can also come down for privacy if required. There were two events that day ‘Wedding in a Tank’ for all of us wedding suppliers & ‘Party in a Tank’ which was aimed at the fashion brands and agencies. Wild about Flowers provided the most stunning flower displays, with a suspended ceiling display and exquisite arrangements all over the venue, they also held floral crown workshops downstairs for people to get all florally creative!  The scent was incredible..sorry you can’t appreciate here. Light Motif  were the production providers creating incredible lighting displays, something couples very often don’t consider but for me is an essential ingredient to any event.  The...
Emma Hunt London – Fulham Palace

Emma Hunt London – Fulham Palace

In my opinion it is all down to experience. Not, how many years you have been in the business, or how many weddings you have photographed, dresses you have made, bouquets you have created.  For me, as a service provider in the bridal industry it is all about the experience we give our couples who are engaged to be married. Call me an old romantic if you will but a bride should fall in love a 100 times on the road to her wedding..her dress, her shoes, the venue (maybe not the photographer but the style at least!) but it should be an emotive experience.  When a couple or bride are stood in front of me I want them to decide with their heart not their head whether or not I am for them. So, that brings me to today.  I have stood in boutiques, at wedding shows, venues, with caterers and have been amazed at the lack of enthusiasm or genuine interest in the people enquiring for their services, I can accept this attitude in the supermarket, if I must but NOT when two people are planning the most important day of their lives…today I saw genuine, creative people, they had patience and were interested, both brides and designers got emotional and the overall ambiance in the room was warm and welcoming, which was all down to the people. Fulham Palace is a venue with a heart and history.  So many original features, beautiful chandeliers, the biggest windows pouring in stunning light which created dancing shadows on the walls and made everyone look gorgeous.  The wooden floors swept warmth...
The Four Seasons Hampshire – Luxury Wedding Showcase

The Four Seasons Hampshire – Luxury Wedding Showcase

Hampshire brides were in for a real treat today if they visited the Four Seasons Wedding Showcase. A truly stunning affair organised by Emma Westacott at this imposing luxury Manor House. The long approach down a picturesque, winding drive, is not disappointing as the manor house lays before you majestically, even as I arrived early afternoon and the winter sun had disappeared I was even more excited to be visiting this venue, surprisingly for the 1st time. Despite the chilling winds and grey skies it look amazing. I had heard many good things and enjoy Four Seasons social media posts but hadn’t had the opportunity to work or visit the hotel..which is criminal on my part! Paula Rooney Weddings & Events had triggered my visit, intrigued by the advertising of the showcase then hearing my friend and colleague would be showcasing herself I decided I must drop in to at least visit her wonderful display. I have attended many a wedding fair and even exhibited at a few but none hold a candle to this event.  The doorman greeted us with genuine hospitality and we were shown directly to the location of the showcase.  The long, light & white candlelit walkway was enticing and had something of the feel of Narnia about it today..the florist, new to me, Zita Elze had decorated this area beautifully and the approach looked quite magical. A second display greeted us by Zita Elze which was equally stunning along with glasses of champagne, cocktails & canapés.  This really is an event that Brides must put on their calendar, the hospitality was fabulous. My first port of call was to visit...
Hackney Town Hall – City Chic Shoot

Hackney Town Hall – City Chic Shoot

I am particularly lucky that I get to work with and photograph some amazing talent. I have made many friends in the industry, discovered the genuine people and have a little black book of industry specialists I would heartily recommend. This shoot was no exception. The venue was superb, for a wedding, social event or a commercial enterprise I thoroughly recommend you consider Hackney Town Hall.  With its cool location, stunning interior and excellent facilities it takes so many boxes.  They were generous to allow us the use of the facilities for the day and for that I am very appreciative. A few thank you to special people.  My team..Jake, Jasmin & Yasmin..thank you, I’m a pain in the ass but you love me right?  Appreciate all you do. Emma of Emma Hunt London..you are genuinely a lovely and most creative lady, I am delighted to have met you, look forward to hopefully work with you again and will be referring my brides to you should they want, elegant, classical, stunning gowns that are of the most wonderful fabrics & stunning design.     The style of the shoot was Cool, City Chic, with Black Tie..a hint at the festive and a real splash of colour.  Jodie from Boutique Blooms provided the colour with her incredible flowers.  They really had the wow factor and stole the show on the table presentations.  The tables were styled by Laura Holden of Holden Bespoke and quite frankly I don’t know what I would have done without her on the day, she was calm & collected a natural organiser and her styling skills speak for themselves....
Lily Bella – Bird Cage Veil Couture

Lily Bella – Bird Cage Veil Couture

For 2014 & 2015 I have had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Lily Bella Bird Cage Veil Couture Collection.   This is Lily, of course the name sake for the company, she makes an adorable model for the Flower Girl Collection that is hand made in their Buckinghamshire Studio. Working with two stunning models Kathryn and Lucy it was an absolute pleasure to photograph them in my home studio.  Kathryn has a wonderful look, reminiscent of past eras, she reminds me of those wonderful actresses Ava Gardner & Vivien Lee.  For me this was the first time working with Lucy and she didn’t disappoint.  An ethereal presence in the hair vines she was a lovely model to work with, you may have seen her of late on the TV too..she has appeared in Mr Selfridge & Eastenders to name but two of the well known shows she has appeared in.  I look forward to working with them both again very soon.   I was very honoured to be asked by Kirsty Griffiths owner and designer at Lily Bella to photograph her collections and am looking forward to working with her again for the third time in 2015 with what looks to be a very glamorous shoot.  It also meant I got to work with Joyce from Brides and Beauty..a great duo we make, lots of banter and fabulous to work with a friend who has produced wonderful looks for the models.  This year we also used Smile hair in Ascot for all of the up do’s!  Thank you to Daniel at Smile for organising that for us.   To see more...
Brides The Show

Brides The Show

So yesterday I took myself off to Battersea to visit Brides The Show. Firstly, I wanted to photograph friend and colleague Paula Rooney of Paula Rooney Wedding & Events stand, it looked amazing (no surprise) and when I arrived Paula was doing a very popular workshop on creating bridal table decorations. I think it is wonderful to learn the skill and use to help friends, or for dinner parties etc but if you can afford it I would always recommend leaving to the professionals like Paula, I have seen many a stressed Bride when they do it themselves, this is your one special day, you do not want to be exhausted and stressed on your wedding day! Paula’s stand was fragrant and beautiful, with shades of blue, pink, whites & creams..romantic with an opulent but classic style.  With accessories to match and wonderful tableware from Allens Catering Hire who have a great selection of coloured plates, Cups & Saucers, cutlery, to be honest they hire just about everything in every colour. My next stop was to visit friend & client Terry Fox, Bridal Designer.  Sharing her stand with Terry Fox stockist the lovely Boa Boutique they had a constant flow of very interested brides.  With all the exquisite gowns on display it was not hard to see why. I look forward to photographing the new collection by Terry Fox in April.   I also got the chance to photograph the ‘Dresses with Drama’ runway show that drew gasps, cheers and claps from the crowd. The bridal fashions of recent years have been very reminiscent of the ‘Art Deco’ period and...
