Fabulous Shoot II

Fabulous Shoot II

It’s no secret that I like to photograph women.  At work, for a portrait session, someone with a story to tell or for a ‘She’ shoot. Over the past few years I have met many great people in the industry of weddings, photography, beauty, men & women. This year for the 2nd time I have pulled together large group of this gorgeous talent for what we now call ‘The Fabulous’ shoot. Admittedly in the image it is all women plus a gorgeous baby girl but we had two boys on set too!  So please don’t think me biased.. This time instead of just the large group I spent time with each individual, took smaller groups together..stylists, photographers, florists etc..there were a lot of images hence why its taken me 6 months to edit them! I hope you enjoy the following days and couple of weeks as I share with you individually the people that took part and tell you their story, why they do what they do, who inspires them and how it felt to be photographed with all these lovely people. Only myself and the two boys avoided the camera but we did make one group shot. It was a great day, a stunning building full of stunning & talented people.  Colleagues, friends, competitors!  All together feeling fabulous…. Big thanks to the stylists..all pictured. Fine & Dandy

I’m very excited to be helping my friend & colleague Emma Hunt London organise her debut showcase event at the private members club The Wisley.  I will be the ‘MC’ for the evening with the lovely Hayley Bray coming along to document the event. Emma will be showcasing her ‘Little Black Dress’ collection, a selection of bridal designs and her exclusive ‘Cocktail’ collection. Events like this don’t happen by themselves, firstly The Wisley will be hosting the event for their members and guests.  They always offer 5 star service and Chef Sam Peschier will provide guests with a fabulous 2 course meal. Hair styling will be provided by the gorgeous James Davies with his team from Award Winning salon Clay, in Oxshott with Make Up services by my friend Joyce of Brides & Beauty. We have models of all ages, shape and size!  That’s the beauty of bespoke design..its for everyone!  James & Joyce will just ensure that the ‘models’ feel their glam best for the evening as the strut their suff on the runway. The gorgeous runway and atmospheric lighting is being provided by Darren Latimer from Innovents.  He is always the first person I refer for Weddings, Parties and Events and has a whole host of available services but that aside he is just a genuinely lovely guy and very professional. We got to visit Louise and her team at Performance Preparation Academy at one of their wonderful new sites in Guildford.  PPA offer the best education for emerging artists and they have very kindly dedicated time and future superstars to the event, after watching their amazing performance today I...
Maids To Measure

Maids To Measure

This week I had the delightful opportunity to visit Sinclair Sellars of Maids to Measure, the Award winning, super stylish, bridesmaid gown design service who are making waves within the wedding industry. Sinclair, one half of a dynamic sister act, alongside her equally gorgeous sister, India.  These creative and clever girls have revolutionised the purchase of the bridesmaid gown. Their wonderful studio space, nestled amongst other creative businesses, just a stones throw from Fulham and the fashionable Kings Road is full of gorgeous gowns, inspiration, comfy sofas, champagne, cake and quirky accessories that will make any Bride and her maids feel absolutely delighted. Lets talk about being bridesmaid… Back in my day (I am becoming a relic) bridesmaids wore chintz, florals, and huge puffed sleeves, full skirts and resembled Little Bo Peep..think Four Weddings and a Funeral. It was a horror story. Brides are a bit kinder nowadays but between the taste of their Maids, the different sizes of their Maids and their budget for gowns, deciding on what everyone will wear is still very difficult and in some cases can cause the breakup of friendships! So where to go?  The High St tends to be the first Port of call and there are some options available but they often don’t inspire and the ones that do can cost a fortune.  Then people trawl the internet which largely results in disappointment because what arrives will not look like the picture and the fabric and fit can be way off. Maids To Measure offer many solutions..buy online or take the time to visit the studio, have champagne, eat cake try on some gowns..this to me sounds...

Paula Rooney Weddings & Events at La Perla! #valentines

My lovely friend, favourite florist & later this year one of my Brides is as we speak knee deep in gorgeous Red Roses. Of course we all know by now its Valentines Day.  A very busy day for all the flower fairies and having been there myself a few years ago I know just how crazy it is.  I’ll never forget standing in my shop ‘Oops A Daisy’ in Cookham and being surrounded by 1500 stems of Roses in a rainbow of colours and feeling exhausted but also loving it! Paula Rooney Weddings & Events was invited this year by the Luxury Lingerie Specialist La Perla to have a ‘pop up’ shop in their Sloane Street & Bond Street stores.  A perfect relationship for these two luxury specialists. Paula’s display looked fabulous and very at home in amongst the silks, lace and finery. The girls at La Perla were lovely, they looked fabulous in the black dress and red lipstick.  It was a busy day whilst I was there, so many ladies coming in to buy themselves lingerie, I was quite surprised..clearly I am not treating myself enough.   There was a particular range of Lingerie that was a bit special.  The Maid to Measure range with its 18 carat gold thread and 18 carat gold fixtures and fastenings, quite incredible, if not a bit extravagant!  But in the area of Knightsbridge I am sure that the clientele here would not be put off or even consider the cost. I loved the portfolio La Perla had created to show the design and detail that goes into their ‘Made to Measure‘...
Maids to Measure – #Girls Night Out!

Maids to Measure – #Girls Night Out!

The gorgeous girlies over at ‘Maids to Measure’ design and create wonderful gowns for bridesmaids. After discovering how difficult it was for Brides and their Maids to find suitable, fun & gorgeous gowns the girls have set up their own beautiful boutique. Armfuls of awards later, a wonderful collection of stockists and a portfolio of very happy Brides and their Maids you can safely say the girls knew exactly what was missing in the marketplace. Wednesday evening the Maid to Measure crew hosted a fabulous girly soiree for all the Brides and their Maids to come and see wonderful suppliers, check out their offerings and see them in action.  The Maids were given food, drink and armfuls of hospitality all on top of fabulous Roof Gardens in Kensington. What a fabulous place!  I wasn’t expecting this.  Great Bar, huge space, then out onto the roof top partially covered by marquee (and very cosy) There were gorgeous brickwork tunnels filled with the wonderful aroma of the abundant BBQ!  Then out to the most exotic looking garden you would never expect to find on a roof in Kensington..can’t wait to go back.  Loved it. I took a handful of pictures whilst there.  Just enough to give you a flavour of the evening.  It was busy, lively, entertaining, certainly a wonderful event and one that wedding service providers should do their upmost to take part in, in future.  I hope they do it again!   Please see below a list of the suppliers that featured, click on the names to go to their websites. Suzanne Neville, Freya Rose, Charlotte Mills Bridal, Eagle Eyed Bride,...

Andrea Hawkes Bridal & Occasion – Clerkenwell

This year for me is all about getting out from behind my desk and putting my foot in the door of the wedding industry.  Don’t get me wrong, I have been firmly working in ‘Weddings & Events’ for well over a decade but have only tentatively trod in the social & networking scene of my associates in the industry.  Of course you make friends and work colleagues over that period of time but in order to be remembered and referred to by people, you need to be present, you need to make an effort, especially as a photographer because they are so many good ones around! Don’t get me wrong, I’m not shy..its just that the industry, as in most, can be quite overwhelming, sometimes intimidating & often fiercely competitive as well as (what you’d expect from weddings)…beautiful, fluffy and romantic! There are some incredibly creative and quite charming people out there and through my recent endeavours I have managed to meet them and in some cases work with them.  This helps me refer wonderful people to my brides & clients who are also overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choice and who have occasionally suffered at the hands of bad service.  It is good to go out & seek the current trends, source new suppliers & find innovative new services that are springing up everywhere! I met Andrea Hawkes, Bespoke Bridal Designer, recently at the Icetank Studios in Convent Garden where they held their fabulous #weddinginatank event.  Andrea was showcasing her designs, modelled by the delightful Sophie, who incredibly isn’t a professional model but one of Andreas lovely part-time assistants, this is a great advert for...
