Day 8 50/50/50 Craig

Day 8 50/50/50 Craig

I needed to hear a good story today..not as in reach for the tissues, tragic kind of story, but a happy wholesome had a nice life story. I’d been walking about for a good hour, I lost some confidence today and just didn’t see anyone who caught my attention. One good thing about my search for a subject was discovering the town I was in.  Winer Garden in Orlando, a charming little place with lots of features you’d find in some cool, indie, low budget movie! Behind the town coffee shop I spotted another business, a gift shop.  It was quiet on the streets today so thought that perhaps the sales assistant wouldn’t be too busy to talk to me. I walked in to find it was a charming Christian Shop, with lots of items from Jerusalem and a lovely interior with a peaceful atmosphere. Craig greeted me with warm eyes and a big smile, we exchanged pleasantries and he asked if I had any questions..well of course I did, 6 to be exact! Once I convinced Craig gently that I wouldn’t interfere with him working or bother his customers he was happy to chat. Name: Craig Naugle Occupation: Store Manager for the Silver Shekel Where were you born and raised? Toledo, Ohio. Craig was homeschooled, for religious reasons.  The family were strong Christians and wanted to train their children themselves and felt that, that was a God given gift. 2. Tell me a childhood memory. ‘I was a paperboy, I had a little red trolley I’d pull with all the papers in it and each house would have...
Day 7 50/50/50 Djenne

Day 7 50/50/50 Djenne

I heard her before I saw her. I needed energy today, I was feeling tired and a little low, I felt I was lacking the energy to support my subject.  T o approach them with the confidence they need in order or give me their story. It’s a Sunday.  Never a good day for me, but then thats my story. So I heard Djenne, then I saw her.  Bright & bubbly, adorable freckles across her caramel coloured face..a rainbow of colours for her hair.  Hello gorgeous, today I am taking to you. Approaching Djenne must have been the easiest subject ever..I told her what I was doing and she whooped and said Yes! You’d think she had won the local lottery. Name: Dienne Husbands Occupation: Sales Assistant Comic Book Store Standing in front of me is a young woman with the most beautiful attitude.  Positive, brave and seeking the best in everyone.  This will keep her in good stead for life,  a few will take advantage, she’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, she won’t get hard cause that isn’t the way she was built.  Some will hurt her because they can but she will smile, count her blessings and will always look on the bright side.  I like Djenne..I remember her.  She was, is, me. ‘My name is Djenne Husbands I am a 23 year old female that works in a comic book store!’ Where were you born and raised? ‘I was born in Orlando and raised a good majority in Orlando and then thrown back and forwards between here and there at least three times a year. My...

Cary – Fabulous II

The lovely Cary from Wales with the bluest eyes I have ever seen. Quiet and beautiful, the camera loves her face.  She has that timeless elegance that just looks peaceful and relaxed when photographed.  She reminds me of Kiera Knightly in Atonement but with a Welsh accent! Cary is a successful photographer, Wife, Mother and friend to many. But not a good navigator..she went all round the houses before she made it to the shoot!  I’m so glad she made it though as it wouldn’t have been the same without her.   1. Fabulous Shoot II

Fabulous Shoot II

It’s no secret that I like to photograph women.  At work, for a portrait session, someone with a story to tell or for a ‘She’ shoot. Over the past few years I have met many great people in the industry of weddings, photography, beauty, men & women. This year for the 2nd time I have pulled together large group of this gorgeous talent for what we now call ‘The Fabulous’ shoot. Admittedly in the image it is all women plus a gorgeous baby girl but we had two boys on set too!  So please don’t think me biased.. This time instead of just the large group I spent time with each individual, took smaller groups together..stylists, photographers, florists etc..there were a lot of images hence why its taken me 6 months to edit them! I hope you enjoy the following days and couple of weeks as I share with you individually the people that took part and tell you their story, why they do what they do, who inspires them and how it felt to be photographed with all these lovely people. Only myself and the two boys avoided the camera but we did make one group shot. It was a great day, a stunning building full of stunning & talented people.  Colleagues, friends, competitors!  All together feeling fabulous…. Big thanks to the stylists..all pictured. Maids To Measure

Maids To Measure

This week I had the delightful opportunity to visit Sinclair Sellars of Maids to Measure, the Award winning, super stylish, bridesmaid gown design service who are making waves within the wedding industry. Sinclair, one half of a dynamic sister act, alongside her equally gorgeous sister, India.  These creative and clever girls have revolutionised the purchase of the bridesmaid gown. Their wonderful studio space, nestled amongst other creative businesses, just a stones throw from Fulham and the fashionable Kings Road is full of gorgeous gowns, inspiration, comfy sofas, champagne, cake and quirky accessories that will make any Bride and her maids feel absolutely delighted. Lets talk about being bridesmaid… Back in my day (I am becoming a relic) bridesmaids wore chintz, florals, and huge puffed sleeves, full skirts and resembled Little Bo Peep..think Four Weddings and a Funeral. It was a horror story. Brides are a bit kinder nowadays but between the taste of their Maids, the different sizes of their Maids and their budget for gowns, deciding on what everyone will wear is still very difficult and in some cases can cause the breakup of friendships! So where to go?  The High St tends to be the first Port of call and there are some options available but they often don’t inspire and the ones that do can cost a fortune.  Then people trawl the internet which largely results in disappointment because what arrives will not look like the picture and the fabric and fit can be way off. Maids To Measure offer many solutions..buy online or take the time to visit the studio, have champagne, eat cake try on some gowns..this to me sounds...
